Public Showing of Film ‘Anote’s Ark’, April 15, 6:00pm

On Monday, April 15, at 6:00, please join us at the Perth Legion, for the film Anote’s Ark, the story of the battle of the small south seas island nation Kiribati against the rising Pacific Ocean. With sweeping cinematography, the film follows former president Anote Tong in his journey of human rights negotiations with the United Nations and elsewhere, exploring options to save the island’s 100,000 population.  The film also traces the choices of one woman, Tiemari Tiare, between remaining, with the four thousand years of the island culture, or building a new life in New Zealand. A film by Montreal-based Matthieu Rytz. The evening is presented by the Canadian Federation of University Women, Perth & District Environmental Committee.  Come at 6:00; film at 6:30.  Royal Canadian Legion, 26 Beckwith St. E., Perth.  Public welcome. Your Help is Needed for a Blanding Turtle Survey

Blanding Turtle (Threatened Species in Ontario) Survey: If you have wetlands on your property, for example as cattail marshes or treed swamps, please consider being part of the Canadian Wildlife Federation survey of new habitat locations in the Tay watershed (lakes and streams).  Contact: David Seburn, Freshwater Turtle Specialist, (Please provide a street address, description of location, and property size.)
