Dear friends and family of Christie Lake,
It is with great sadness that the Board of CLA notes the passing of Alan Jordan, on April 21, 2023. Alan was an important connector within our community, a life-long resident of the lake and the host to so many cottagers over the years. His cheerful, practical presence was a defining feature of lake life for many of us. Please see the obituary notice below.
We would like to invite everyone to send memories or photos of Alan to be included in a Memory Book, which we will present to his family at the celebration of Alan’s life that they plan to hold this summer (date tbd). Funny stories, tales of wisdom and kindness, and photos of Alan around the lake would be appreciated. Kindly ‘Contact Us‘ for information on where to email your files to us.
Our thoughts are with the Jordan family at this difficult time.
Rest in Peace Alan.

Obituary of John Alan Jordan
Jordan, John Alan
At home on Friday, April 21st, 2023, John Alan Jordan passed away at the age of 86 years. Alan was the loving husband of 59 years of Audrey (Conroy) Jordan and the cherished father of Jacqueline (Ken Guarisco), Paul (Erin MacDonald) and Jane (Larry Hope). He was the beloved grandfather to Adam and Rachel Guarisco, Silas and Ewan Jordan and Katie and Connor Hope. Alan was the son of John and Mary (Scharf) Jordan. He will be sadly missed by brothers Harold (Emma) and Lloyd (late Barbara) and predeceased by brother Robert (Marilyn) and sister Betty (Arnold) Miller. Alan will be mourned by his sister-in-law Eva (Frank) McLean. He will be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and many long-time friends.
Alan owned and operated Jordan’s Cottages since 1965 and will be remembered by generations of families who summered at Christie Lake. Families returned year after year not just for the beauty of the lake, but also for Alan’s company and hospitality; his presence and hard work made the cottages a warm and familiar place for so many. In the off-season Alan loved to travel with Audrey, exploring new places and never failing to make new friends along the way.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at Christie Lake in the summer. In remembrance of him donations in his name can be made to Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation – Perth Site, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements are in the care of Blair and Son Funeral Home, Perth.
